UAE Intercity Rail Arrives in Dubai: Al Yalayis Station Opens, Strengthening City Connectivity

On September 30, 2026, Etihad Rail’s Al Yalayis Station in Dubai officially opened to the public. This marks a major milestone in connecting Dubai to the UAE’s national passenger rail network and ushers in a new era of intercity travel between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, and the Northern Emirates.

Located near Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai Al Yalayis Station is the city’s first passenger station on the Etihad Rail national network. With the station now operational, passengers can travel from Dubai to Mohamed Bin Zayed Station in Abu Dhabi, with connections also extending towards Fujairah. For those who have long relied on driving between the emirates, rail travel offers a more reliable and efficient alternative.

According to the current schedule, the rail journey between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is expected to take approximately 64 minutes. Fares start from AED 39 for Comfort Class and AED 109 for Premium Class.

During the initial phase of operations, multiple daily services are available from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, with morning departures at 6:14 AM and 7:14 AM, as well as afternoon and evening services at 1:14 PM, 5:14 PM, and 6:14 PM. Multiple direct services are also available from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.

For business commuters, cross-city meetings, weekend trips, and family travel, the railway offers a significant advantage in terms of journey time and predictability compared with conventional road transport.

Al Yalayis Station is more than just a railway station—it is designed as an integrated transport hub. Facilities include ticket counters, digital information screens, general and family waiting areas, retail and dining outlets, prayer rooms, a first-aid room, parking spaces, and dedicated taxi and ride-hailing pick-up and drop-off areas.

According to Etihad Rail, the station also provides Wi-Fi, self-service ticket machines, passenger assistance, and facilities supporting connections with the Dubai Metro, further enhancing the overall passenger experience.

More importantly, Al Yalayis Station will be integrated with Dubai’s existing public transport network. Etihad Rail has identified Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station as the metro connection for Al Yalayis Station. Located on the Dubai Metro Red Line approximately one kilometre away, the two stations will be linked via a transfer bridge.

Looking ahead, once Dubai’s Gold Line becomes operational in 2032, the area is expected to develop into an important interchange connecting the Red Line, Gold Line, and the national railway network.

From an urban development perspective, Etihad Rail’s arrival in Dubai is more than a transport milestone—it is a major infrastructure development with the potential to reshape connectivity and urban value.

The railway network will bring Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Al Dhafra, and other areas into a more efficient inter-emirate transport system. As additional stations gradually come into operation, patterns of mobility, business activity, tourism spending, and residential choices are likely to evolve accordingly.

For the real estate market, infrastructure has always been one of the fundamental drivers of long-term area growth. Rail connectivity does more than reduce travel times—it can improve mobility, expand business catchment areas, support rental demand, and strengthen the profile and accessibility of surrounding communities.

Jumeirah Golf Estates and its surrounding areas are therefore set to benefit from stronger urban connectivity through the combination of national rail, metro access, and future multi-line interchange capabilities.

The long-term value of Dubai’s real estate market is increasingly supported by a combination of infrastructure investment, population growth, public transportation, economic development, and everyday convenience.

The opening of Etihad Rail’s Dubai station further reflects Dubai’s evolution beyond a single-centre urban model towards a broader, more efficient, and increasingly interconnected metropolitan region.

For investors taking a long-term view of Dubai real estate, understanding the urban trends driven by major infrastructure development can often provide more meaningful insight than focusing solely on short-term price movements
